Fewer Multiple Pregnancies

Transcript

Some people begin the IVF process with the idea of trying to conceive twins or even triplets. However, carrying a multiple pregnancy is associated with the higher chance of complications and poor outcomes for pregnant people and their babies during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. From the beginning, SART and the CDC have shared the goal of reducing the number of embryos transferred per cycle to decrease the chance of multiple births.

IVF technology continues to improve and laboratory procedures continue to advance. With these advancements come the ability to transfer fewer embryos per cycle. Over time, the rates of multiple births have gone down significantly, leading to healthier outcomes for pregnant people and their babies.
